Sunday's Hale'iwa Farmer's Market

First time to the new Hale'iwa Farmers' Market, and it was great! You'll probably see friends of yours while you shop for local food, check out the Eco-Booths, eat, and enjoy the live music.

I discovered Sea Asparagus aka: halophyte salicornia. It's very tasty, nutritious, and of course ocean-fed-salty.

Have you wondered how we here on an island could use sea water for growing crops?

Well, Wenhao H. Sun, can tell you about the Sea Asparagus he grows in Kahuku!

Gardening Organically

Here in Hawaii, we're lucky to have fruit growing wild all around us, just walk down the street and you'll find
mmm, a Mango tree, best taste in the world!

bananas, guava, papaya, avocado, mountain apples, oranges, grapefruit, lychee, and more!

I must admit, I get my produce at the neighborhood Farmer's Market, but maybe one day, I'll at least grow some herbs and tomatoes - easy!

Backyard Farming is an idea many dream of, so let's do it this spring.

There's alot to learn, but learning is fun - mostly.

Then there's the noni tree - worst taste, but 'good for you'.

Here's another good site - with lots of gardeners from different locales.

Harvest Cycle

What a great idea!

What could be more perfect? Eating locally grown organic fruits and veggies from Jessica's Stand and having them delivered via a Bicycle using Sarasota's first bicycle map from the Alliance for Responsible Transportation.

and then there's Cargo bikes too!
